Having registered in 2012, the organization has expertise in anaesthesia and safe surgery, maternal health, specifically training, development and roll-out of digital apps and support for medical equipment and anaesthesia, including UAMs. CPHD has trained over 70 anesthetists in its safe surgery programme in over 12 counties including counties in Arid and semi rid areas. In Siaya county, its intervention increased C-section rate from 3.2% to 4.9% within one year by opening one CEmONC site and supporting equipment and quality improvement.
CPAP for children
Pneumonia is the number one killer of children under 5 years. Every year, 2 million children under the age of 5 die globally due to acute respiratory infections. The CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) is a low-technology device that helps babies breathe easily, and gives caregivers the crucial time window to arrange for advanced care when needed.
Ultrasound Training
The East African Health Worker Training program was conceived to complement GE Foundation’s donation program in Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda. The program team realized that many of the donated equipment was not being put to optimal use mainly due to lack of user knowledge.
